    I designed and built the Mønten Chair in the summer of 2021 during a furniture design course in Copenhagen. I was heavily inspired by the reflection of the natural world that I saw in Danish domestic spheres. The Scandinavian tradition of honesty in material and construction is something that still deeply influences my design process. It is my intent with this design to follow the Scandinavian tradition, but to play with proportion ever so slightly. This lounge chair is wider than it needs to be, but I discovered that the additional width of the seat allows for a wide variety of seating positions. A person can sit quite naturally in the chair in a multitude of different ways.
