    The Cairn Lamp is an exercise in portmanteau. A portmanteau blends the sound and meaning of two different words. For my brief, my professor assigned me a lighter and lamp as two object archetypes, with the challenge of finding synthesis between them into a single object.
    The body of the Cairn Lamp is shrouded in stainless steel which serves as a tribute to the archetypal Zippo lighter as well as a reflective cave for the flame to bounce light within. While maintaining its functionality as a lighter for rolled herbs or incense, it also functions as an object the beckons gathering around its light.
